Can an Xbox be repaired? Usually, yes. We fix Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One consoles, and Xbox controllers, at our shop in Cefn-y-bedd near Wrexham.

The Series X and Series S are built differently: the Series S has no disc drive and a smaller cooling system, and the older Xbox One family has its own common faults. Tell us the model when you book, or bring it in and we’ll identify it for you.
Please bring the power cable and a controller with your console, so we can test it properly before and after the repair.
The Series consoles pass the video signal through a small chip before the HDMI port. Most of the time the port itself is damaged, which we replace: £85 for the Series X and £75 for the Series S. If the port isn’t the cause, we’ll tell you before going further.
The Series X pulls air in at the bottom and out the top. Put something on the top or block the base and it overheats. A clean and re-paste from £60 clears the dust and refreshes the thermal paste.
Often a software or update fault rather than hardware. We check the cheap fixes before any board work. Board-level repairs are from £75.
The older Xbox One family and Series X have disc drives that can stop reading. Disc drive repairs are from £70.
Standard sticks are £20 each or £35 both, the Hall-effect upgrade £25 each or £45 the pair.
Keep the top vent of a Series X clear, give the Series S space around its grille, leave slack in the HDMI cable and never carry the console with leads attached. A yearly dust-out helps all of them.
Every console is different, so we look before we price. When you bring it in we note the fault you’ve described, test it with your cable and controller, and open it up if we need to. Then we tell you what’s wrong, what the repair involves and the price, and nothing is done until you say yes. Where we publish a fixed price, that’s the price. Where it says “from”, the final price is confirmed after we’ve had a look, before any work starts. If a repair isn’t worth doing, we’ll tell you straight.
If we fit a standard part, like an HDMI port, a fan, a drive or a stick, and the same fault comes back within 12 months, bring it back and we’ll put it right. Board-level work, such as soldering repairs on the motherboard, carries 3 months, because those boards have often been through a knock or a spill already. The warranty covers our part and our workmanship. It doesn’t cover new drops, spills, or someone else opening the console after us.

The worn stick is replaced with a new standard one, then calibrated and tested.
We fit Hall-effect sticks, which read their position with magnets instead of contacts that rub and wear out, so they shouldn’t drift again.
The warranty covers the part we fitted and our workmanship. It doesn’t cover new accidental or liquid damage.
