Console repairs for Mold, Buckley, Deeside and the rest of Flintshire

Search for console repair in Mold or Buckley and you’ll mostly find Post Office drop-off points and postal firms. We’re a proper walk-in repair shop on the Flintshire side of Cefn-y-bedd, fixing PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles in our own workshop.

A local shop, not a drop-off point

When you drop a console at a counter it usually gets boxed up and sent away. Bring it to us and it stays on our bench in Cefn-y-bedd. You can tell us exactly what it’s doing, we’ll test it with you if needed, and you’ll speak to the person repairing it.

Please bring the power cable and a controller with your console, so we can test it properly before and after the repair.

How it works

  1. Book or just pop in. Use the booking form, call 0333 600 3330, or bring it to the shop in Cefn-y-bedd.
  2. We check it over. We test the console with your cable and controller and find the actual fault.
  3. You get a quote. We tell you what’s wrong and what it will cost before we do any work.
  4. We repair and test it. Then you collect it from the shop, with onsite parking right outside.

From Mold, Buckley and Deeside

From Mold, follow the A541 towards Wrexham through Pontblyddyn and Caergwrle; Cefn-y-bedd is just past Hope. From Buckley and Penyffordd it’s a short hop south. Deeside customers can come down the A5104 through Broughton and Penymynydd, or take the Borderlands train from Shotton to Cefn-y-bedd station. Onsite parking is right by the door.

Common Flintshire repairs

HDMI port damage

No picture or flickering when you touch the cable. PS5 and Xbox Series X ports are £85, Series S £75, and PS4 or Xbox One from £65.

Overheating and loud fans

Dust is the usual cause. A clean and re-paste from £60 gets the airflow back.

Won’t turn on

Could be power supply, board or something simpler. No-power and board-level work is from £75, and we explain what we find first.

Joy-Con and controller drift

£20 a stick, £35 for both, or the Hall-effect upgrade at £25 a stick or £45 the pair.

Keeping your console healthy

Give it space

Leave a gap around the vents, and don’t shut it in a closed cabinet while it’s running.

Mind the cable

Leave slack in the HDMI lead and never move the console while it’s plugged in.

Dust it

A gentle hoover of the vents every few months helps, and a full internal clean every year or two keeps it cool.

How quotes work

Every console is different, so we look before we price. When you bring it in we note the fault you’ve described, test it with your cable and controller, and open it up if we need to. Then we tell you what’s wrong, what the repair involves and the price, and nothing is done until you say yes. Where we publish a fixed price, that’s the price. Where it says “from”, the final price is confirmed after we’ve had a look, before any work starts. If a repair isn’t worth doing, we’ll tell you straight.

The warranty in plain words

If we fit a standard part, like an HDMI port, a fan, a drive or a stick, and the same fault comes back within 12 months, bring it back and we’ll put it right. Board-level work, such as soldering repairs on the motherboard, carries 3 months, because those boards have often been through a knock or a spill already. The warranty covers our part and our workmanship. It doesn’t cover new drops, spills, or someone else opening the console after us.
