Your console doesn’t need to go in the post. Bring it to our shop in Cefn-y-bedd, just off the A541 north of Wrexham, and talk to the people who’ll actually fix it. We’ve been repairing tech for the area since 2009.

Please bring the power cable and a controller with your console, so we can test it properly before and after the repair.
We see consoles from all over Wrexham county borough: the town itself, Gresford and Rossett, Brymbo, Coedpoeth and Gwersyllt, Ruabon and Chirk, as well as customers from Llangollen and over the border in Oswestry. If you’re in Cefn-y-bedd, Hope or Caergwrle we’re practically next door.
The Tech Heroes, PD Centre, Mold Road, Cefn-y-bedd, Wrexham LL12 9UL. Onsite parking. Open Tue to Fri 9am to 5pm, Sat 10am to 4pm. Closed Sun, Mon and bank holidays.
The shop is at the PD Centre on Mold Road (A541) in Cefn-y-bedd, north of Wrexham. From the town centre, head out on the A541 Mold Road through Gwersyllt and keep going towards Mold; Cefn-y-bedd is the next village after Gwersyllt. From the A483, come off for the A541 and follow it north. There’s onsite parking at the PD Centre, so you can carry a console straight in.
If you’d rather take the train, Cefn-y-bedd has a station on the Borderlands line between Wrexham General and Bidston, so it’s easy from Gwersyllt, Hope, Penyffordd and Buckley too.
This is the classic one: a lead gets yanked, or the console falls off a shelf while it’s plugged in, and the TV says no signal. The HDMI port is soldered to the board and the pins bend or crack easily. We replace the port and check the board around it. PS5 and Xbox Series X ports are £85, Series S £75.
Wrexham homes with pets, carpets and consoles in TV cabinets see a lot of dust build-up. The fan and heatsink clog, temperatures climb and the console shuts itself down to protect the chip. A clean and re-paste, from £60, usually brings it back to normal.
Stick drift isn’t you, it’s wear. Standard sticks are £20 each or £35 for both, and the Hall-effect upgrade is £25 a stick or £45 the pair.
Often a worn or damaged USB-C port, sometimes a battery or charging chip. Charging port repairs are from £70.
Every console is different, so we look before we price. When you bring it in we note the fault you’ve described, test it with your cable and controller, and open it up if we need to. Then we tell you what’s wrong, what the repair involves and the price, and nothing is done until you say yes. Where we publish a fixed price, that’s the price. Where it says “from”, the final price is confirmed after we’ve had a look, before any work starts. If a repair isn’t worth doing, we’ll tell you straight.
A new console is expensive, and a repaired one keeps your saves, your setup and your accessories. As a rule, if the repair is a port, a fan, a clean or a drive, repairing is the better value. If a board has serious liquid damage, or the repair would cost close to a replacement, we’ll tell you honestly and you decide. Either way, the quote costs you nothing to hear.
If we fit a standard part, like an HDMI port, a fan, a drive or a stick, and the same fault comes back within 12 months, bring it back and we’ll put it right. Board-level work, such as soldering repairs on the motherboard, carries 3 months, because those boards have often been through a knock or a spill already. The warranty covers our part and our workmanship. It doesn’t cover new drops, spills, or someone else opening the console after us.
